If you are scared to start read this

At this time of year you will see lots of new year, new you content about setting goals to improve your health in 2025.

Everyone wants to do this but few do as starting can be daunting and scary.

I’m in Australia writing this at the same place I was the same time last year.

This time last year I had lost confidence in my ability to walk any distance as my heart condition was deteriorating and it was daunting to consider walking up any incline.

Last year at this time I went for my first 5km walk along the road in the video. The small inclines were challenging and I wasn’t sure I could make them.

Today I did two laps of the route without any stress.

What happened in between? Since the first walk to now I have done nearly 4 million steps averaging 10,943 steps per day. This has built my endurance fitness and confidence.

If you are daunted or scared about starting, set yourself a walking goal and aim to do it everyday. Walking is the most natural activity you can do so is the easiest place to start.

That investment of 45 minutes walking everyday makes all inclines you have to climb feel a lot easier and be the catalyst that builds the confidence that you can get control of your health and longevity.

If you have to set one goal for 2025, then make walking everyday the first one.
